AboutMaryJo Mellado Willey Expertise I have been going to Yosemite National Park since I was 10 years old (back in 1970), and consider one of my favorite places in the world. I have camped there, stayed in cabins, Housekeeping, and the tent cabins in Curry Village. I have gone on various hikes, and visited different sites.
Question We are staying in CV Tent Cabins the last week of August for 3 nights. Since we have to keep items in the food locker, how big are they? I don't think I will be taking a lot of food, but want to make sure that what I bring it in will fit.
Also, is there any place that would still have rafting at this time. If so is it calm water, I have a 7yr daughter who has never done rafting before and don't want to make it too rough.
Thanks for any help
Answer Hi Paul,
The bear boxes are big enough to fit a normal size cooler and a couple of bags of groceries. I have put in a cool, a xerox box of groceries & a bag of groceries. Lockers shouldn't be locked, but we locked ours & put a note on the dates that we would be staying at Curry Village so the rangers wouldn't cut it off & it worked for us.
As for the rafting - it depends on the level of the river. Usually the falls are low & the river might be too low for the big rafts. However, she can go swimming at Stoneman Bridge & float on a raft (the kind you blow up yourself) or innertube there. There are no other places in the valley to river raft.
