Question
Hi,
My husband and I are visiting Yosemite for four days this July. Can you advise us as to where we should focus our attention so we see the best bits! We are both interested in natural history and don't mind hiking. (Though my husband is paranoid we are going to be eaten by bears!)
Thank you!

Louisa

Answer
The bears in Yosemite aren't the type that eat people.  They are the type that will eat ANY (and I mean any) food left in your car, even out of sight in the trunk).  So store food as instructed by rangers.  I would go up to Glacier Point for the great view and consider the hike down.  Drive up to high country around Lake Tenaya, hike to May Lake (short but beautiful hike), and go to Toulumne Meadows. Rent bikes and ride around Yosemite Valley.  Hike through the big tree groves around Wawona.  Consider renting inner tubes and floating down the Merced river (if the river is running fast enough...).  Enjoy
