Question hello,
i have to answer to an essay question after reading a book 'Lord of the flies'.
english is my second language and it is very hard for me to start an essay.
My essay question is
Analye how actions or dialogue helped you to understand one main charater/individual.
can you please help me how to start write these kind of essays ?
thank you :)
Answer Dear Jenny,
First, I would suggest that you get a tutor in both English and the English language. They can help you get more comfortable reading and writing and teach you how to write essays.
However, I can make a few suggestions about how to approach this question. First, I'd pick a character you want to write about. Then, I'd go through the book and look at each example of action or speech that character performs. What patterns do you see? Does the character always stutter, or give only vague answers, or is she the first to volunteer? Does he say one thing and do another? Your theory about how the character speaks or behaves is your essay's first sentence: "Evan's decisiveness and determination are shown by his forthright, sometimes blunt, speech." Use the rest of the essay to prove your first sentence, using examples and explanations.
