About Elroy Sanford
Expertise
Questions regarding group and solo albums and his music career from his time in Winnipeg are my strongest area of expertise, followed by general questions about himself and his family. I have absolutely no connections to Mr. Young or any of his friends or family, though, so "insider" questions probably cannot be answered.

Experience
Over the last few years, I have acquired every album by Mr. Young (only missing a few single sides), have bought numerous biographies and have learned as much as I can about Mr. Young.

Education/Credentials
B. A. in Political Science and History, August 2004.
Briefly studied at the Master's level, 2005-2006.
Over 1,250 albums.

Subject: Remake of After the Gold Rush

Question
In 1975 at a music store in Atlanta I heard a version of After the Gold Rush.  It was sung by women, or a woman against herself.  It was glossy and almost angelic--like a choir.  Would you know who that was?  Thanks.

Answer
"After the Gold Rush", title track to Young's third album, has been infrequently covered by others. Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt have done it, as have Natalie Merchant, k.d. lang and the Flaming Lips. But I think that the version that you're thinking of is the 1973 cover by the British group Prelude from their album titled "After the Gold Rush".

In the compact disc age, the only current availability that I know of the song is on a greatest hits disc from a few years back, "Floating on the Breeze".
