Answer Hello again, Andy
Well, those three titles you mentioned are part of the "Unreleased 6", 6 albums that have yet to see the light of day on CD. "Time Fades Away", "Hawks and Doves", "RE*ACT*OR", joins "Journey Through the Past", "On the Beach" and "American Stars and Bars" as the Neil Young albums that have never been released on CD. (It used to be the "Unreleased 11", but Geffen
released "Trans", "Everybody's Rockin", "Old Ways", "Landing on Water" and "Life" on CD last year)
I once saw a bootleg CD of "Time Fades Away" here in New York, but it cost 100 dollars and I didn't (and still don't) have that kind of money to throw around and now it isn't there anymore. But if i saw it here, chances are that a bootleg still exists elsewhere.
The list of albums you included is a solid start, but here are some others you should try: "Neil Young", his wonderful 1968 debut album that was ignored at the time of its' release and is one of Young's personal favorites; "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere", in which the nonhits are just as good as the hits, "Tonight's The Night", one of his most personal albums, "ZUMA", one of the best rock and roll albums ever made and "Live Rust", which is the soundtrack to the "Rust Never Sleeps" movie and is an album worth having in its' own right. And as for his live work, I really liked "Year of the Horse", which is telling in that Young selected better tracks for the album than Jim Jarmusch did for the film! and I also liked "Weld", which is his best live album, in my opinion.
"Road Rock Friends and Relatives" is pretty good as well.
I'm glad you tried "Comes A Time", which I think is one of his most underrated albums and "Lucky Thirteen" which is a good intro to the Geffen albums.
