About Elroy Sanford
Expertise
Questions regarding group and solo albums and his music career from his time in Winnipeg are my strongest area of expertise, followed by general questions about himself and his family. I have absolutely no connections to Mr. Young or any of his friends or family, though, so "insider" questions probably cannot be answered.

Experience
Over the last few years, I have acquired every album by Mr. Young (only missing a few single sides), have bought numerous biographies and have learned as much as I can about Mr. Young.

Education/Credentials
B. A. in Political Science and History, August 2004.
Briefly studied at the Master's level, 2005-2006.
Over 1,250 albums.

Question
what Winnipeg high school did Neil young get thrown out of for playing the guitar in the halls????

Answer
I'm afraid that that great rumor of Neil's is false. He never got kicked out of high school, he dropped out to become a professional musician. It was Kelvin High School, by the way, which was brand new at the time. As for playing in the halls, I wouldn't doubt that. Neil and his various groups (The Jades, the Esquires, the Stardusters, the Squires) seemed to play anywhere they could get a gig.

His grades had suffered as he devoted more time to the guitar than to studying. He may have dropped out sooner if not for the fact that his father was sending his mother 100 dollars a month as long as Neil was in school. Eventually, though, Neil realized that his music had to come out and that he couldn't wait until he had finished high school. So he quit. They didn't kick him out.
