Question
when i first heard 'needle & the damage done' i was told it refered to a friend of neils that died of a drug overdose, but im unsure if its a personnal confesion to drug abuse, can you help

Answer
Dear Andy,

Also, the lost Neil Young album RE*ACT*OR (1980) is a personal confession to drug use. At the time, his son Ben was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy and Young wondered if his drug use had anything to do with Ben's condition. If you watch "The Last Waltz" (1978, Martin Scorsese's doc about The Band), a huge wedge of cocaine is hanging out his nose. He was also partial to tequila, downing it by the glassful.

Bill
