About Exo
Expertise I'm able to answer any and all questions related to the English Yu-Gi-Oh! game itself. This includes, but isn't limited to:
Deck Fixes: These can either be making suggestions and improvements on a deck you've already built, or building a deck from scratch for you. In either case, please give an idea of the kind of deck you're building, the level of play you're planning to use it in (fun games, small tournaments, regionals etc), and roughly the kind of budget you're on.
Please format decks in a way that's easy to read. The standard way is to put each card name on its own line, with a number before it indicating how many you're playing. Please split decks into Monsters, Spells and Traps.
I can offer fixes for OCG (Japanese) decks, but please allow more time in this case, as I may need to research some of the cards you're playing.
Rulings: On any card interacting with any other card(s). Just tell me the scenario, and I'll tell you what happens. Any rulings that can be linked to Official sources will be, so that you can see the official word on the matter. Any rulings that can't be linked will be explained in full, so you understand the reasoning behind my decision.
I won't be answering questions on whether a trade is fair or not, or on how much X-card is worth, as both these kinds of question can be answered by using Ebay's completed listings page.

Expert: Exo - 11/6/2009
Question QUESTION: Hey Exo,
It's me again. First off, I loved that D-Hero design, but I just couldn't pull it off. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. But, I recently found out that I am really good with Gemini monsters. Yes, I'll admit it, I bought the new Starter Deck, Warrior's Strike, but I modified it A LOT. This is actually the first time I'm pleased with a Deck I designed and the results weren't bad either. But, something is still off and I'm finding myself getting into trouble to often and can't get out, so I thought I'd run it past you. Now, I know that it has 50 cards. That's one of the things I was hoping you could help with. I need to cut it down, but I don't know what to cut down. So, without further ado, here it is:
Monsters (25)
Phoenix Gearfried
Evocator Chevalier
Volcanic Counter (Like I said last time, I can't bear to take
this card out NO MATTER WHAT!)
Gemini Summoner
Blazewing Butterfly X 2
Ancient Gear Knight
Dark Valkyria
Gemini Soldier
Comrade Swordsman of Landstar
Junk Synchron
Nitro Synchron
Road Synchron
Cyber Phoenix
Obnoxious Celtic Guard
Speed Warrior
Silent Swordsman LV5
Marshmallon
Winged Kuriboh
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Tuningware
Featherizer
Quillbolt Hedgehog
Spell Striker
Ghost Gardna
Spells (15)
Axe of Despair
Fighting Spirit
Junk Barrage
Supervise
Mist Body
Symbols of Duty
Amulet of Ambition
Swords of Revealing Light
Nightmare's Steelcage
Lightning Vortex
Brain Control
Heavy Storm
Burden of the Mighty
Reinforcement of the Army
Mystical Space Typhoon
Traps (10)
Ultimate Offering
Level Retuner
Defense Draw
Mirror Force
Scrap-Iron Scarecrow
Gemini Trap Hole
Draining Shield
Kunai with Chain
Birthright
Magic Cylinder
Extra (6)
Stardust Dragon
Red Dragon Archfiend
Black Rose Dragon (I have found this card to be an excellent
replacement for Chaos Emperor Dragon, since
he's illegal.)
Thought Ruler Archfiend
Nitro Warrior
Junk Warrior
Oh yeah, I won a Majestic Star Dragon and a Majestic Dragon off Ebay. They haven't got here yet, but they should get here tomorrow or the next day, so could you work them into this, too?
And, just for the fun of it, I would like you to rate my deck in it's current state.
Thanks!
Silver
ANSWER: If I'm entirely honest, the deck in its current state plays lots of cards that don't seem to give much to the overall theme of the deck.
There's no point in using singles when a second copy of a better card can be added. For example, you have Cyber Phoenix in there for draws, and Speed Warrior in there for a level 2, but if you'd just played 2 more Featherizer, then you'd have both the draw and the level 2 in the same card in both spaces...
Unfortunately, this deck doesn't allow for Majestic Star to be added in, since it doesn't summon Stardust Dragon, or play any Level 1 monsters... Majestic Star is best in its own deck, where it's fully supported.
If you're gonna build a Gemini deck, you'll need 2 more Structures, to provide more copies of Evocator Chevalier, Featherizer, Supervise and Hidden Armory.
Supervise is a key card in the deck, allowing you to use Evocator or Dark Valkyria's effect immediately, without waiting for them to be gemini summoned. Hidden Armory lets you search for it from your deck or Graveyard.
I'm gonna rework your build to include multiples of the better Gemini monsters, and drop out the worse ones.
I'll also be adding in Flying Kamakiri 1 to search out Featherizer and Gemini Soldier:
2 Phoenix Gearfried
3 Evocator Chevalier
2 Dark Valkyria
2 Flying Kamakiri 1
3 Featherizer
2 Gemini Soldier
3 Junk Synchron
1 Sangan
1 Card Trooper
(19)
This means you'll draw good tuners and gemini monsters more, and bad ones not at all, since you're not playing them.
Your Junk Synchron are now even better, since Hidden Arsenal was Released Yesterday. That Booster contains the new level 5 Synchro monster, Ally of Justice - Catastor, which is a huge booster for this deck.
Spells, again I'll be cutting back your not-so-useful stuff, replacing it with better version, and cutting the card count down:
3 Supervise
3 Hidden Armory
2 Pot of Avarice
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Brain Control
1 Mind Control
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Lightning Vortex
(14)
Which leaves 7 spaces for Traps. These can obviously be filed by these:
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
2 Scrap-Iron Scarecrow
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Call of the Haunted
(7)
Try that out, I reckon it'll work better.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask a follow-up question.
---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------
QUESTION: WOW! I didn't even now Catastor existed. Now, before I spend a fortune on him (and he is expensive!), I have one question about his ability. Does it mean that unless it's a Dark Monster, he can't be destroyed by battle? He automatically destroys any monster (other than Dark) that attacks him, right?
Answer That's correct. When Catastor is attacked (or attacks) a monster, then he will destroy unless it's a DARK monster.
So yeah, he basically can't be destroyed in battle except by DARK monsters...
I suggest waiting a bit before you start buying them off Ebay. Since the set was released only yesterday, Ebay is still full or Pre-sale copies, which are ridiculously overpriced. Give it a week or so, giving people chance to buy boosters, and I suspect the price will Halve...
Hope that helped.
