Yu-Gi-Oh/Malefic Felgrand Effect

Hey Exo, I ran into a dilemma involving the Malefic effect that states "if there is no Field Spell active destroy this card" and the new Rank 8 Xyz Felgrand. Here's the scenario, I have a face-up Malefic Cyber End Dragon and a face-up Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand on the field while their's a Field Spell active (Geartown for example.) Now I activate Felgrand's effect and target Cyber End. Next, I destroy my active Field Spell by either setting a new field spell or MST.

Now I'm totally in the dark here, but does Cyber End still die or does he stay because of Felgrand's effect? And what's the reasoning for either answer in whether End lives or dies?

Thanks in advance Exo. Hope you can help clear the fog on this subject.

From the OCG Rulings page:

If the effect of a monster like "Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or "Malefic Red-Eyes B. Dragon" or "Malefic Stardust Dragon" is negated by an effect like "Skill Drain" or "Forbidden Chalice", then its effect "If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card." is also negated. Thus, "Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon" won't be destroyed if the Field Spell Card is removed from being face-up on the field.

This can be extended to include "Malefic Cyber End Dragon" and "Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand".

Please note that since Felgrand only lasts until the End of the Turn, "Malefic Cyber End Dragon" will be immediately destroyed when the effect expires unless a new Field Spell card is played before that point.

Hope that helps.

I'm able to answer any and all questions related to the English Yu-Gi-Oh! game itself. This includes, but isn't limited to:

Deck Fixes: Either making suggestions and improvements on a deck you've already built, or building a deck from scratch for you. In either case, please give an idea of the kind of deck you're building, the level of play you're planning to use it in (small tournaments, regionals etc), and the kind of budget you're on.
Please format decks in a way that's easy to read. Each card name should be on its own line, with a number before it indicating how many you're playing. Please split decks into Monsters, Spells and Traps.

NOTE: A level of reasonability is assumed with this. I cannot build you a nationals winning deck based on monsters whose name starts with the Letter 'A' on a budget of 4($6)... Nor will I generally respond well to Questions touting "No Xyz, Synchro... etc" or disallowing cards from certain parts of the show. I haven't seen the show in a number of years and find these conditions to usually be poorly-defined.

Rulings: On any card interacting with any other card(s). Tell me the scenario, and I'll tell you what happens.

I won't be answering questions on whether a trade is fair or not, or on how much X-card is worth, as both these kinds of question can be answered by using Ebay's completed listings page.
