I am looking for the transcription of sofa no 1 in which steve vai plays lead. Having looked through most tab sites I have come up with a big fat zero. could you help?

Answer Bad news - I doubt your chances. I used to run the 'Chrome Transcriptions of Destiny' until Geocities deleted the site without any advance warning. I never had a transcription of the 84 Sofa anyway. (I don't have time to maintain such a site anymore, although several of my transcriptions are floating around on the web.)
Your best bet is to contact alt.fan.frank-zappa (go to Google, click on the "Groups" tab and enter 'Zappa') and see if anyone else has got a transcription.
